About Us
We publish a free, modern browser version of Jigsaw Sudoku — the 9x9 sudoku variant with irregular regions — with unlimited generated puzzles, three difficulty levels, pencil notes, undo and hints, on a layout that works on any screen.
Our craft
Nine regions. One answer.
Read the regions, work the rows and columns, and let logic finish the grid. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make
jigsawsudoku.app is the site behind our version of Jigsaw Sudoku, a single-player logic puzzle. Each grid is nine irregular, connected regions of nine cells; you fill every row, column and region with the digits 1 to 9 exactly once, starting from a handful of given digits.
We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Puzzles are generated on your device, and your puzzle in progress, best times and streaks live in local browser storage.
If you are comparing this to another jigsaw sudoku site, this page only speaks for jigsawsudoku.app. The rules, difficulty levels and controls described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
The modern sudoku grid is only a few decades old, and the irregular-region variant is younger still. We treat the rules as a contract: get them exactly right, and keep the friction as close to zero as we can.
The modern sudoku grid first appeared in 1979 in Dell Magazines as "Number Place", credited to the architect Howard Garns. It was renamed and popularised in Japan by the publisher Nikoli in the 1980s, then exploded worldwide in 2004 when newspapers such as The Times began printing it daily.
Once the classic 3x3 layout was everywhere, puzzle setters began swapping the square boxes for nine irregular, connected regions. The result goes by several names — Jigsaw Sudoku, Irregular Sudoku, Nonomino, and in some search results Loco Sudoku — but the rules are the same: 1 to 9 once in every row, column and region.
jigsawsudoku.app generates a brand-new region layout and solution on your device for every puzzle, removes digits while a solver confirms the answer stays unique, and gives you the tools serious solvers expect: pencil notes with auto-clearing, unlimited undo, optional hints and a timer.
What we stand for
Open the page and a puzzle is already on the board. No account wall, no download, no splash video.
Every grid is generated on your device and verified by a solver to have exactly one solution, so no puzzle ever depends on a lucky guess.
Your puzzle in progress, best times and streaks live on your device. There is no login because there is nothing to log in to.
The whole game is free. No hint packs, no energy meter, no interstitial ads between puzzles.
Who it is for
jigsawsudoku.app is a family-friendly, single-player puzzle with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want multiplayer or live events; a good fit if you want sudoku with a twist, on whatever screen is nearby.
If classic sudoku has become routine, irregular regions bring back the moment of "where does this go?" without changing the rules you already know.
A puzzle takes a few minutes on Easy and longer on Hard. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can leave and come back.
Instant play and privacy in exchange for local-only saves. No cloud restore, but also no sign-up.
Why this site
Sudoku sites are everywhere. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast jigsaw version — correct rules, verified unique puzzles, and no clutter.
Puzzles are generated as you play instead of being pulled from a fixed archive, so there is always a new grid one tap away.
Notes that clear themselves, undo without limits, highlights for row, column, region and matching digits, and a number pad that greys out digits once all nine are placed.
No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns. The guides and FAQ describe this exact game.
How we build
The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, tap, click and keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.
Phone, tablet, and desktop share one board. Tap on a touchscreen, click with a mouse, or use the keyboard shortcuts for digits, notes, undo, and hints.
Your puzzle in progress, best times, and streaks per level are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
